I’m a deaf stethoscope I’m inspired by insights I can’t translate And driving toward the beach So beach you better be breezy At best I’m inaccessible I’d rather be the B side on the CD But I’m trying to find the light So I might as well ignite this firefly Firefly – I’m tried of trying Because I’m wired for dialing If you smoke a little lightning you’re bound To start choking and idling I’m a deaf stethoscope I’m a heart beater but a greeter on the side I’ve reported myself missing On the side of a milk carton kissing a baby Firefly – Burning all the papers Extinguishing the embers Packaging the ashes And returning to all senders I’ve never been higher than a church spire I’ve never been lower than to wish I’d never known her

I looked into the sun And the darkness was overwhelming And reached into the fire But the flames just licked my fingers I removed the steering wheel Just to prove I could drive by feel I jumped off of the bridge But I landed in the river I jumped off the bridge and now I’m rejuvenated

Flying South 03:45
In the right place at the right time Is all you’ll allow And all you’ve earned is just enough When they call your name or they call your bluff And you find a place to turn around Two steps up from one step down Late to look is late to find Digging down the dirt inside your mind And flying south And the right time, it was so clear Like a sudden alarm Striking when the iron’s hot You take your time and they take your spot In the perfect place to turn around Two steps up from one step down You leave enough to leave behind Digging down the dirt inside your mind And flying south
4.
Gotta stay up late and tinker with time To bend yourself straight When the night’s forgone and the lights are all on Stay up a little longer And break with the day You gotta stay up forever to see Something to come to perpetuity Now the lights are all on So stay up a little longer Gotta stay up late and wait and wait At least until the anxiety abates
5.
Either I'm gonna leave or I'm gonna get left behind at the end of the day There's a countdown clock ticking down the minutes til the end of the day Try to focus right here Try to focus right here, the here and now But either you're gonna leave or you're gonna get left behind anyhow Heartbeats in the dark start a panic so stark Listen to your breaths How many of them are left? Dancing with no curtains Singing with the windows open to the street Let em see our moves Let em hear our voices in perfect key Try to focus right here Try to focus right here, the here and now Either I'm gonna leave or I'm gonna get left behind anyhow Now the weather's getting cold Now the pets are getting old Soon the leaves on the trees will be crushed under our feet

No Mouth 04:30
I opened my voice but I had no mouth Closed my tears but my eyes just ran down From the sky to the ears on the ground Opened my voice but I had no mouth I’ve broken the silence and watched its collapse Closed my eyes as if no time had passed The cruelness a blindness that finds us outlasts us Broken the silence and watched its collapse You’re told what to do when you do what you’re told Hell’s the intention to pave a good road Not to mention the unmentionable
